Day 1: Nairobi to Saltlick
Pick up from your hotel in Mombasa and begin the scenic drive along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway. The 245 km, 5-hour journey includes refreshment stops along the way before entering the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary for your first game viewing.
Afterward, head to the lodge for a relaxing lunch, followed by more game drives in the afternoon. Later, return to Saltlick Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, reflecting on your exciting first day in the wild.
Day 2: Saltlick to Amboseli National Park
Begin the day with an early morning game drive at Saltlick Lodge, capturing the sights of the park as the sun rises. After breakfast, depart for Amboseli National Park, embarking on a 2.5-hour journey over gravel roads towards the park’s southern region.
Upon arrival, relax and unwind until the afternoon game drive, when you’ll explore the park’s unique landscape, known for its sparse vegetation and easy wildlife spotting. If you’re fortunate, Mount Kilimanjaro may reveal its snow-capped peaks in the afternoon sun, providing a breathtaking backdrop to your safari experience—a true photographer’s dream. Dinner and overnight stay at Oltukai Lodge.
Day 3: Amboseli to Saltlick Lodge (The Stilts)
Start your day with a dawn game drive in Amboseli National Park, with the stunning Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop, weather permitting. It’s the perfect opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife in the soft morning light. Return to camp for breakfast, then check out and drive towards Taita Hills Sanctuary.
Arrive at Saltlick Lodge in time for lunch and enjoy a leisurely afternoon until the scheduled game drive at 3:30 PM. This drive offers a chance to witness large herds of elephants and other wildlife. After dinner, embark on an exciting night game drive before heading back to the lodge for a restful overnight stay at Saltlick Lodge.
Day 4: Taita Hills (Saltlick) to Tsavo East National Park
Begin the day with an early morning game drive before returning to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, enjoy more game viewing as you exit Taita Hills Sanctuary, then drive along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway to reach Tsavo East National Park.
Check in at Sentrim Tsavo East and relax before an afternoon game drive across the park’s vast savannah. The drive will be calm and unhurried, allowing you to fully absorb the beauty of the landscape and the diverse wildlife. Your guide will highlight the unique behaviors of the animals encountered. Dinner and overnight stay at Sentrim Tsavo.
Day 5: Tsavo East National Park to Mombasa
Start the day with an early morning game drive, exploring the vast and open savannah of Tsavo East. Take your time to enjoy the wildlife sightings, appreciating the expansive landscape of one of Kenya’s largest parks.
Lunch will be at an open-air restaurant with stunning views of the Tsavo East plains. Afterwards, drive back to the coast, arriving at your hotel in Mombasa or Diani Beach by late afternoon, ready to relax by the ocean after an unforgettable safari experience.
